Iris Valves

The concept of the Iris Diaphragm Valve is similar to that of the iris of a camera. There are two basic versions, the "Single Lock" (CVSL) Series and the "Double Lock” Series (CVDL).

Both types of valves described below are used to control the flow of powders, granules, flakes and crystals, in a wide range of production applications e.g. Under hoppers, bins, driers, blenders, vertical pipe lines and bulk bag outlet spouts.

The Single Lock (CVSL) Series: A cylindrical, flexible diaphragm is fitted with flanges at both ends. The flange at the upper end is held stationary while the flange at the lower end rotates as the diaphragm twists.

The Double Lock (CVDL) Series: In addition to the upper and lower flanges, there is an intermediate flange attached to the middle of the tubular diaphragm. This "middle" or "intermediate" flange rotates while the other two flanges remain stationary. Since the middle flange rotates through 180 degrees, there is double locking of the diaphragm. And an added advantage of this type of valves is that the bottom flange being "fixed" or stationary means the valve may be securely mounted to downstream equipment.

These valves are available in a variety of construction materials depending upon the usage and application. Valves are available with aluminium, SS304 or SS316 bodies and the diaphragms may be Nylon, Polyurethane coated Nylon, Nitrile Rubber, Latex (food grade) rubber or Silicon.
